Building Technology Academy
Building Technology Academy (BTA) is an elective, school-to-future program which seeks to (1) raise awareness of craft and management careers within the construction field, (2) provide positive, hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom, and (3) attract talented young people to careers in the construction industry. The BTA program includes two year-long course sequences: Construction Technology, and Construction Systems and Design. Students acquire knowledge and skills associated with the construction industry through classroom/shop activities and work on Habitat for Humanity job sites. An Advisory Board of students, business and industry professionals, and school, District, and State personnel helps to shape the policies and procedures of the Academy. BTA is supported by building and District funds, and the following: Associated General Contractors of Minnesota, Carl Perkins, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Saint Paul/Roseville School-to-Future Partnership, Saint Paul Public Schools Exemplary Grant, Tech Prep, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
